bad optima battery...any other negative experiences? Positive with lead acid.....

My only issue with them is that they cannot be recharged from the
typical home recharger.

I had a pair of the red ones in my Dodge Ram (Cummins diesel), and they
only lasted about a year-and-a-half. They *seemed* to take a charge
from my home recharger, but went flat again within two weeks.

I brought them back to the store. The guys there told me that if they
get depleted, you have to hit them with 100A, otherwise the gel never
gets to a good temperature, and will not hold a charge.

I do not have a charger that can put out that level of current, so I got
a pair of lead-acid batteries (which have been fine for more than three
years.)
