That sounds pretty ghetto to me. Why not just make up some custon
urethane mounts with stuff from home depot? IT also sounds like it'd
make your subframe squish around imroperly to me.

Subject: Possible fix for subframe clunking sounds

I was chatting with the parts guy from an Audi dealer. He does his own
repairs.
The conversation drifted to subframe stuff. He said that he places the
tail end exhaust system round rubber donuts between the chasses and
subframe to stop the clunking.
Essentially he removes the subframe bolts, lowers the subframe a bit,
inserts 4 rubber donuts between chassis and suframe and inserts the
bolts and torques them in. The donuts will get squished in and remove
any looseness which stops all noises.
Any comments?
