This happened to me a few times with my V8, and I wound up replacing the alternator a few weeks later when the alternator died completely. It might be something as simple as the brushes or it could be something else with the alternator.

I guess your car is being kind to you and trying to give you some warning of an impending failure. It's a good Audi..:-)
