This idea has such shade-tree elegance, and yet I don't think I have
ever heard of someone saying it actually *worked* for them."
I've used that method on literally hundreds of clutch jobs over the last 30+
years. Last one about 2 weeks ago. Ya gotta be really careful not to let
the grease squirt out at you, though. It can come out with enough force to
penetrate skin. I'm NOT kidding! Only time it didn't work was on the Onan
engine in a Westcoaster 2 wheeled truck. It can only work on an intact
pilot bearing, however. The rest get the carbide die grinder treatment,
shards and all. John
