Early headlight electrical problem (CGT)

More problems with the '82 (four headlight) Coupe that followed me home a few
weeks ago. When I got the car, the driver's side low beam was out, but that
lamp lit on high beam. I changed the bulb, but still no low beam. I took by my
local upholstery guy and he decided to have a look. As far as I know, all he
did was pull the terminal and replace it. Low beam worked. Now, the low beam is
out again.

I guess this means I have to regard the problem as "intermittent". Yesterday,
I went over it with a circuit tester. I could see from missing screws and
general looseness, that the PO had been there before me. I don't get any power at
the terminal on low beam, but do on high beam. There is also no power at the
fuse. I suppose this leaves only the switch, or a broken wire.

So, two questions (I only have the "flow" chart in an old Haynes) Does the
switch give power to the lights independently? I would think there would only be
one contact for both low beams. Haynes shows a "butt connector" in the line
from the fuse to the light. Can't find it, can anyone give me a location?
