200 ignition switch question

Looking over the Family Album I see on a print out given to me Photo 155-20
that the switch part #1 (4A0 905 849) is behind the key cylinder tumbler,
inside a sleve which goes to the steering column #2.

Having the sysmptom of: turn the key if depressing it a bit and the pause and
electrical whine of something before the starer engauges is the contacts of
the switch having a gap or poor contact. Correct?

If I reinsert the key 180 degrees over and make sure I apply no pressure into
the dash board the key turns smoothly and starts normally.

The Avant does this when cold, the sedan once but a new key cut (old one was
bent) and now no such symptom.

Switch is the part I'm looking to replace in the Avant, the above part number
the correct item?
