Looking for someone with V8Q engine experience!

Looks like carbon buildup is the problem.  Not too many miles on a really
complete timing belt job, and the belts are tight, timing appears to be on.
Unfortunately, the suggested cleaners require a running engine, and we don't
have that.  Interesting that my friend who has the car in his shop steered
me to the same diagnosis on a 318i twin cam a couple of years ago.  Pending
a little more diagnostic effort, it looks at this point like it'll be coming
apart.  Thanks to all who responded.  John
