I don't think belt strength is that big an issue. I'd rather see an
easy-to-replace belt, more along the lines of the serpentine belt
on the V6. Make it a half hour job to replace, not a half day affair.
And don't make it drive the water pump -- failures are too costly.
Make the water pump electrical, so it only pumps when needed.
My two cents as a very amateur mechanical engineer. :)
