I've also seen a commercial for a thing I think made by FRAM that replaces
your drain plug with a quick disconnect type valve. It has a little section
of hose about 6" long that has a matching QD on it, you just aim the hose at
your drain bucket, then pop it on to the drain plug QD and voila. Just
looked it up, it's a FRAM SureDrain. If you click on the Products link at
fram.com then click accessories you'll se it a little down the page.

Personally I dont mind the drain plug myself, and on the 5ktq can do a oil
and filter change without jacking her up or anything very easily. You want
to complain about filter placement wow dont get me started. On a Porsche 944
the filter is upside down so it dumps whatever is left inside onto the
bottom of the engine and whatever else is in its path as soon as you lossen
it. On a 911 with A/C (not 993/996...usually only the CIS cars) it's
sideways mounted and in a very tight location that requires a 5 hour course
in how to wiggle it out in exactly the right way, meanwhile dumping oil onto
the painted engine trim and the headers. But hey, at least its easy to check
the oil in a Porsche... if you leave a parking spot and theres no drips on
the ground then you're out! Of course that said, I would trade the ~500hp
5ktq for a stock black widebody 930 without thinking twice about it :-/.
