self locking knuts

Oh, yes indeed. The old "swaybar detaches from the control arm" failure mode. It is a *very* fun ride, BTDT (long ago), and being old, conservative and putzy is just fine, thank you, because if it ever happens to you, it will take 20 years off your young, heedless and trendy life *anyway*, at the very least!
If/when it happens to you, it feels a little like the day I was riding my mountain bike over the crest of a steep hill. There was a rock in front of the front wheel just over the crest, and I stood up and yanked on the handlebars to help lift the wheel over the obstacle -- at which point I heard a "FOOoMmP!" from the steering head as the handlebars came off in my hands! Ohhhhh. OooOooohhhhhh. Big crash.
Now I am old, conservative and putzy also with critical fasteners on my cars, motorcycles, bicycles, and my shoelaces too.
Cheers,
Alex Kowalski
