why does this fuse keep blowing?

Tess, the fan problem is not related to your fuse.  On the Type 89's, there
is a fan resistor that resides behind the glovebox.  The resistor pack gets
old and the lower speeds open up, leaving you with 3 Offs and a Fast.  You
can replace this fairly easily, and the part was not very expensive.  You
need to remove the glovebox, though, to access the resistor pack.  There
might be a note about it in the Bentley, but I didn't use one to replace a
resistor pack in my friend's car.
