Vibration in my clutch pedal ('86 4kcsq)

My vote is for a worn out throw out bearing.

While we're on the topic, how long does it take a backyard mechanic to do the job using normal well stocked home mechanic tools?

A friend and I just did the throw out bearing on his '95 Quattro Mod 90. Of course we replaced the clutch plate, roughed up the friction surfaces, greased the pilot bearing as well as replaced the throw out bearing while we were there.

The dealer quoted 8 hours for the job, and Can $500 for parts. I'm sure we took more time than a dealer would have to clean up threads and coat with antiseize and a proper transmission jack would have saved a lot of time, but I don't think I could have cut it down to less than double the quoted time even on the 3rd or 4th similiar job.

Any others out there who have done the job? Time please?

Cheers
George
