How is the MAF? If it is giving low output, you'll run lean and could
get misfires more easily. Also, running "good" gas? When my MAF was
readying very low, I'd get really bad running with '89 octane, I'd
need 91 or better to have it run decently.

PS. the output can be tested by reading block 002 or 003 while
accelerating full throttle up to red-line in 2nd gear. The max output
should be 80% or rated HP (so, on your car is 170hp, right? Then you
should see about 136 m/s on the MAF For more info on this. search on
the VAG-COM forum on vwvortex. Andy from Ross-Tech did a more detailed
writeup on this test.
