Probably the switch (I forget the name of it) that
tells the Transmission Controller (TCU?) what the
transmission is up to (like what gear it is in). Our
'95 A6q Avant had both the switch and tailshaft seal
done at the same time at ~90k miles by the PO and it
was over $1k at a dealership in Texas. HTH
