Poor mans sport cam for a "NG" Motor

 Hi;
I am sure this subject has come up a number of times.
I have heard that a cam from 5000(100,200) turbo make for a good cheap 
upgrade in a "NG Motor(2.3l,10v).
Is this true? Will it fit? (of course being a swap from a hyrolic head to a 
hydrolic head).
Any other info I should know about?
I can get the cam for $10
Is it worth it?
