Interesting Problem With 86 5000TQ

Hi,
A clogged fuel pump inlet screen will make your 86 5000TQ behave in the 
manner described.
The coating inside the fuel tank collects on the fuel inlet screen when the 
fuel pump is operating then falls back to the bottom of the tank when the car 
is stopped. Look inside the tank for a dark residue at on the bottom of the 
tank. Another clue is does the 5000 TQ loose power and slow down before it stops 
running? Audi issued a TSB instructing that the fuel pump inlet screen be cut 
off to solve this problem.   I did it on my 5000 and it works but I also 
cleaned the inside of the tank twice in addition to cutting out the inlet screen.
