It will, if you first undo the nut all the way to clean the thread from
rust, then put it back on and whack it judiciously with the flat of the
hammer.  You whack it before taking out the nut, you're shtoopped.  It's
still too rough a technology but it might save you about 50 bux CAN -
cost of a decent 3-jaw puller acquired recently by the Haphazard Cutting
and Welding Werks.
