Oil temps in the North East USA?

Kent;

You got that hole in your fender because the paint peeled off the galvanized
metal on the inside of the fender and formed a pocket to collect road sand,
salt and moisture. This it lovingly held against the fender until it rusted
through. (just a WAG based in the hole in the bottom of the front fender on
my '86 5ktq).

This is a bit of a design problem on the Type 44. Every spring I'd open the
front doors and hose the sand out that pocket at the bottom of the front
fender. Usually a half-pound or so on the driver's side.

So how did that hole get into the bottom rear of the front
fender on my late '89 200? Trust me, it rusted out.

Here in NH, they dump enough salt on the road to kill the
trees along the edge of the road. Add dead leaves and pine
needles into the nooks and crannies of the fender, add water,
and wait.
