Rust Through and Steering Wheel question

I have had the instrument cluster out of my present urS6 and a couple of 
earlier 200's.  It was(is) not necessary to remove the wheel at all in 
order to pull the IC.  The job is very easy in the S6 with its adjustable 
wheel and was a bit of a Chinese puzzle with the 200 but not difficult even 
then.
