First, let me assure you that the GTI 20AE is an interferance engine (it's a 1.8T). Second, unless you've done an engine swap on your 85 CGT...your's is NOT an interferance engine. But I would still recomend regular replacement intervals. Getting stuck at the side of the road sucks.
