Ok Got the oil changed today at the Grease Monkey in town, Stopped by
yesterday and they had to special order my filter, said it would be there
that afternoon. Well it was there this morning at least when I went back.
They were nice and seemed to know what they were doing. When they were
working on it they pointed out the oil on the belly pan ( needs valve
gaskets ) so I hoped they snapped it back on right too. Of course then there
is the sticker shock. $38 for the filter. Guy knocked it down to $20 ( we
were talking about both being pilots earlier so maybe it was a favor ) and
gave me a $5 coupon I didn't have. its was $4 for each extra quart of oil.
(M1 ful syn)
bottom line was like $85, next time I do I myself but I have put like 3k on
this car since I got it, and I don't know any of the previous history at
all.
So I hit the road sun morning. Any bets how fast I can get through Kansas V1
equipped?

Britt

PS. Thinking about getting in to the Toyota scene.

It's impossible to find oil filters for the A8 except via mail order. It
would be a miracle if a quick-change place had one in stock. I'm pretty
sure the '97 has a belly pan, and oil-change places tend to forget to put
all the fasteners back on, which makes your belly pan disappear somewhere in
Nevada.

I wouldn't dare use a quick-change place. Just change the oil and leave the
filter alone, you can change it after your move without changing the oil if
you want to. Or use cheap oil.
