What is "too warm"? Does your fan cycle on and off as you would expect?

Yes, that is the thermostat housing (where the lower radiator hose
attached, on the block, not the head)

My feeling is, when in doubt about a t-stat, simply replace - it's cheap
and easy. Don't forget to have fresh coolant on hand, as you will
probably lose quite a bit while it's out. Though I suppose with the
hoses off you already have.

I would imagine you are also running A/C out there, so the cooling
system can get pretty stressed. A good flush and fill can help it do
its job, as can cleaning out as much of the radiator (and AC condenser)
as possible.

Also, I believe there are two thermostat temperature settings available
- IIRC, they are about 82 or 87 C. You might want to try to get the
lower one.
