You need an adapter from Soundgate, assuming you have an aftermarket  
stereo and the original Bose amplified speakers with their original  
(internal in type 44's, external for the rear units+sub in many cars  
which followed) amps.

I had a lot of trouble with my adapter, which turned out to actually  
be a defective Blaupunkt deck, ironically enough with blown power  
capacitors.  Taught me never to buy anything on clearance from  
Crutchfield...

I believe Soundgate has two styles; one is line-level input, the  
other is speaker-level.  The speaker-level style sometimes requires a  
power resistor (ie the sand/ceramic type) in series if your deck has  
particularly powerful built-in amps.  The soundgate people are for  
the most part helpful on issues like this.
