speedo reading low?

Anything is possible, but after driving German cars for a long time,
this would be the first time I have ever heard of a speedo reading low.
Some are more accurate that others (BMW being notably optimistic), but
always high in my experience. My 200q is about 4% high, so I corrected
by going to a slightly taller tire (225-55/16) which makes the speedo
accurate to within 1 mph at 60.
If he wanted to give you a ticket, you "admitted" to speeding, so it was
only a question about how much over. I agree, strange encounter, unless
maybe he is a recovering Audi fan!!!LOL

Finally, I get to my point. :-) Is there any chance in heck that my
speedometer is reading low? It I recall correctly, German speedometers
tend to read high, and I have stock-size tires. I have a feeling he was
using a bit of hyperbole to get me to slow down, since if I really was
going 70 he probably would have ticketed me.

So, what do you think? This is making me a bit paranoid. Next time I
come across a speedometer check area on the freeway I'm going to time
it.

Thanks,
Mike
