Totally concur.  My 5k was doing the same thing and eventually died
completely in a parking lot (as in, wouldn't start at all).  Had to
McGuiver a bypass starter button in.  Now, the rest of the electrical
from the ignition switch is getting flaky and I already bought the
toggles to bypass the rest of the switch to get power to the dash and
engine (just haven't installed 'em yet).  The bummer is I'll still
need the key to unlock the steering column (or finally replace the
switch in its entirety).
