First of all as you mention in your other email about your Audi dealer, 
if they are so good to you than don't leave them.

But if you Hubby told you that it's ok to drive with a stuck thermostat 
(in the closed position, since the car is over heating) than I would not 
let him near ANY CAR :-)

you could call up up your dealership and ask them if they would be 
willing to put a used engine in...if every thing else in the car is in 
good shape.  but that is really a decision that you are going to have to 
make based on what you can find on the market re used engines VS used 
car and your budget.
