Fay-
When you say you have back issues- is it your back or your legs?
Some suggestions, in terms of comfortable seats:
'92-95 Ford Taurus SHO (they come in automatic, they have very comfy
seats with 4-way lumbar and bolster adjustments- I think 16 way
total?)
'89-95 BMW 5 series with sport seats (sounds contradictory, but if it
is a lower back issue rather than sciatica or something like that, the
sport seats have much better comfort and support than the standard or
"comfort" seats)
'97-03 BMW 5 series with sport seats (these seats are even better)
'92-current Volvo 850/S70/S60/V70 (very comfortable seats with good support)
'86-94 (?) Saab 9000 (very comfortable seats)
'94-02 (?) Saab 900/9-3 (similar seats to the Saab 9000- very comfy)
'86-95 Mercedes E-Class with orthopedic seats (pretty rare option, but
awesome seats- made by Recaro, IIRC 16-way adjustable)
I have not found any American cars with very comfortable and
supportive seats yet, have not found any Japanese cars to be
exceptionally comfortable either, although the seats in the Subaru
WRX/STi are very comfy ('04-05), even for long trips.
