For starters (pun intended), DO NOT R&R the starter using the standard
jack to hold the car up. You need jackstands or ramps minimum. I don't
know what's the ground wire. I thought the starter was grounded through
its contact with the bellhousing. There will be two bolts, an upper that
screws into a threaded hole in the starter from the back of the bellhousing
flange and a lower that passes through both the starter and bellhousing
flange and secures with a nut. It may be inserted from either direction.
You want to start this project with the battery disconnected and then
remove the electrical connections before taking out the fasteners. Besides
cleaning the electrical connections, you want to clean the area of the
bellhousing where the nose of the starter goes to help guarantee a good
grounding there.
