5000TQ deceleration and stalling

I'm having the EXACT same issue with my '87 5kcstq. I've been combing the
archives for an answer to the problem, and I may have hit upon it.

I replaced the cap and rotor, which probably wasn't a bad idea anyway, but
ended up not solving the problem. It helped a little. When my car is fully
warmed up, the problem is much less pronounced, but I still have to keep my eye
on the tach. I swapped in a spare ISV and that had no effect. My car has
brand new plug wires too, which seemed to help the idle issue when seated
properly, but again ultimately didn't solve that problem.

This morning I unscrewed the plastic housing for the throttle switch (on the
front passenger side of the intake manifold, just behind the 'michelin man' IC
hose). I used a dremel to cut open the black plastic case and resoldered all
the microswitch connections in there (there are four). These solder joints
apparently fatigue over time, and that intermittent contact condition can
really screw up the idle behaviour of your car. I'll see if that solved my
problem when I get home from work, and I can try it out more thoroughly-- but I
fired the car up once with the newly flowed solder joints and it started right
away and idled properly, something it had not been doing until it was fully
warmed up. (I resealed the case with JB weld, just left the car where it was
while that cures).

Might be something to check, FWIW-
Good luck!
