When I bought my 4kq a year ago the seams were all blown apart, but the
leather was still good. Since I was on summer vacation and didn't have a
job I restitched them by hand, which was quite the task. I experimented
with using a machine, but I found that all the new holes in the leather was
just going to make it tear, so I did it by hand w/ an awl using the original
thread holes. $10 of thread and a few hundred hours of work later I had
some pretty sweet looking gray leather seats. I was able to repair the foam
with some spray contact cement and duct tape. I also swapped the outside
bolster on the drivers seat with the inside one on the passinger seat to
make the drivers one look nicer. You probably don't have the time for a
project like this but I would reccomend it to anyone who wants a truly
origional look at almost no cost.
