Nope.

Castrol claimed many years ago that hydrocracked oil was "synthetic",
and Mobil took it into arbitration with some sort of advertising
group, which sided with Castrol in that the "processing" made it
"synthetic". Wow, big surprise- an advertising group sided with the
party making slimy claims...

Hydrocracked oils are improved over non, but there's no sense in
rewarding Shell/Castrol for outright lying to consumers.

For most listers, given the durability of the I-5 and how many people
change their oil the second they get over 3,000 miles, I don't think
it's an issue- but I don't think it is right for people to go buying
something they think they're getting, when they're not. Personally,
I'll keep putting in M1, since I can be slightly absent-minded about
oil changes, and admittedly, with only 2-3 oil changes a year, an
extra $20-30/year isn't going to break the bank...that's less than
one tank of gas these days...

By the way, Mobil a couple years ago introduced some blends that are
a combination of PAO and hydrocracked group 2(or 3, I forget) oils,
in part because Castrol was getting a lot of market share in the high
end of the market. If you're intending to get the full synthetic,
watch you don't grab the wrong bottle/box.
