Cheapy struts on type44?

Anyone replace their type44's shocks w/cheapy brands
like Monroe sensatrac,etc.? I have Boge Turbo Gas now
which are old & tired, and I have to watch my pennies.
I'm willing to sacrifice a bit of performance since I
do 90% city driving on L.A.'s crappy, pot-holed
streets (off-road driving?) at a blistering average of
25mph. I drive about 5-7k mi. a year. BTDT's/Opinions
welcome!
