Hi Fay,

You can get a rebuilt turbo, but have the cat converter looked at first.  If
hubby is doing the work, some would recommend removing the cat converter and
being sure you can pass a small diameter softball bat through it before you
put it back.  That ought to work good especially if you don't have to get an
emissions check any time soon.  I passed California emissions tests with an
empty cat for years until they started doing dyno tests.  

Disclaimer:  I do not recommend damaging emission control equipment as a
general practice, but it is a quick and dirty way of finding out if the cat
is clogged...
