Return of the No-Start 4kq

Fuel Pump relays on these cars would be my first suspect. I would not
suspect the pump of starting to fail and taking out the relay until I had a
second relay fail. I have had many of these relays apart and the solder
joint to the circuit board for one of the main connectors cracks. I have
resolderd them and they work but I would not trust them long term. I have
several in my tool box I keep for testing or spares. I even added red, green
and yellow LED's to one so I could tell if it was getting battery power,
ignition power and ignition signal. Made for a neat little tester except it
is hard to see while sitting in the car and cranking it over.
NOTE: The 4 cylinder CIS-E relay looks the same as the 5 cylinder relay and
it will work in a 5 cyl car up to a point. The fuel pump relay is the rev
limiter and a 4 cylinder relay will give you approx 20% lower RPM limit.
Make sure you get the correct relay.
Take Care
Jim
