C4 100 ball joint

Kent,
You need a better explanation from the inspecting
technician as to why your car failed! 94 100 does not
have an upper ball joint. The lower ball joint is part
of the lower control arm and can not be replaced
separately (whole arm). Just some tight fitting bolts,
very big nut on strut rod and the ball joint into the
bottom of the strut is tight. Other than that it is
unbolt and remove/replace. I suggest replacing the big
nut for the strut rod/sway bar along with the bushings
and new pinch bolt and nut for the bottom of the strut
(grade 10.9 bolt not 8.8). The ball joint boot can be
replaced with a boot for a type 43 5000 ball joint.
If the problem is really "the upper" then it would
have to be the strut bearing.
You need better info before you get started.
Take Care
