Yeah, I know. I did it a couple of times just to see what the difference was. The difference was, at least on a nice day, that I saw parts of the neighborhoods from where I lived to downtown early in the morning, got a cup of coffee along the way, and generally had a nice time.
But nobody much does that. Not when they've just spent $40,000 on a new Ford Expedition. And they live in a luxury high-rise development. Most of them won't take the bus, or the El. Furthermore, Chicago has four seasons, and some of them are brutal. A corporate lawyer is not going to walk to work in a driving rain, or on a 95-degree day. Once, twice a year, MAYBE. On the other hand, they might be persuaded to share a ride with someone who works two blocks down a little more often than that.
Let's not let the best become the enemy of the good, so to speak. ;)
Cheers,
Alex

"I voted for the Communists because they look after the old people, and they doubled my pension," Ana Vasentciuc, 70, said after voting in the election in Moldova early Sunday. Her monthly check is now about $35.
