Post-recall type 44 airbag light reset?

Does anyone know what the VAG15?? does to reset the airbag light on a
200 that has had the airbag controller recall. Pre-recall, the airbag
light would reset itself once the problem it identifed was resolved.
Post recall, there is a "latch and hold" that will keep the light on
until it is reset using the two connectors that stick out from the
center console by the drivers right knee.

I ask this because in very cold weather, the air bag light comes on when
our is 1st started. Pre-recall, it would go out after 30 seconds. Post
recall, I have to take it the dealer, where once a year for the last 3
years, they say that the stored code said "hi resistance", but when they
measure it, its fine. The only suggested correction is a new spiral
spring, the tune of many hundreds of dollars.

I am not interested is disabling the light or otherwise fooling the
system. I just want to be able to reset it myself to see if it stays off
without going to the dealer. Ideas?
