I don't know for sure, as I don't have a manual for
my '94 100 S Avant yet, but they're usually on the
transmission.

Audis are known for their odd electrics -- such as
a broken wire at the trunk hinge causing the sunroof
to fail.  I'd check the wiring at the trunk hinge
first.
