2001 A4 suspension squeak

Actually, Audi of America HAS issued a recall for certain B5 platform cars
to have control arm bushings fixed. I called them about my 1996 A4q and they
said it did not fall into the recall category. However, AoA DID replace all
control arms for me a few years back (thanks Neil!) for free, since I had
experienced groaning from the front end since the car was new.

Audi apparently DOES have a fix kit for it, as my car has (knock on wood)
not suffered from groaning since the work was done in 2001.

A letter was sent to owners who would fall under the recall. I don't know if
it's a NHTSA recall (ie, logged on the NHTSA site) or if it is an internal
service action. I also don't know how it will affect Canadian owners.

But if your friend has a VIN, he can find out if the car falls under the
recall.
