front shock insert replacement question

it is to help disipate heat, the OEm damper uses the shock body as a
heatsink, after you drop the insert in it has 2 walls to trap heat and
the oil is there to absorb and help cool the insert. I've used tranny
fluid in the past for the same thing on VW's.
