A4 fuel filter change

my buddy has a 99' A4 30vQM that just tuned 100k on the clock.even
though it says it has a lifetime fuel filter is it recommended that it
be changed at some point. ALSO is it possible to change the plug wires
without replacing the paks or should that be done hand in hand?He also
developed lifter tapping among start up which lasted about 5 seconds
and after adding lucas or some sort of lifter tap preventer it now
taps for almost a minute...any advise to pass on?
