Used 4.2L A6's going cheap-what's up?

The only "downsides" that I can think of, that are specific to the C5 4.2, are:

oil cooler leaks ($$$ due to the 7 hours of labor to replace)

Other than that, same old C5 issues:
fading info display in the instrument cluster
controls arms need to be replaced when the imbedded ball joints wear out

To be honest, I'd prefer a 2001 A6 4.2 with sport package over any of
the C5 A6s. I think the price issue has more to do with these cars
coming off of their 4 year/50k mile manufacturer warranty.
