pothole damage

Hi everyone,

I hit the mother of all potholes tonight in my 92 100CSq and destroyed
my steel rim and the Yokohama Guardex that it was wrapped in. After
hitting it I had a vibration and noise coming from that corner and
slowed down, the vibration became more violent as I slowed so I
stopped the car immediately. I got the donut on but now the car is
making a scraping noise from that corner. Stopped at the gas station
and made sure that the donut was properly seated and not binding
against any of the moving components. I nursed the car home and
notice that the donut was much warmer than all the other wheels. Did
I damage a wheel bearing in process? How do the the pricier items
like the diffs handle a flat/bent rim situation? I tried searching
the archives for flat tire threads but didn't come up with anything.

Thanks,
Ben Kwan
