Too bad you live far away, I'm giving away a good tranny from a 1987 5ktq
but its a pick-up only deal, and chicago to New Hampshire is probably a
bit far for you...


I'm with you on the $38 of wishful thinking.  When I bought my 88 90q it
always had a bad grinding noise shifting into 3rd gear.  I replaced the
tranny fluid with redline.. silky smooth shifts, but still the grinding.
Eventually the transmission got bad that the car wouldn't come out of fith
gear.  I somehow managed to make it home a few miles through several
stoplights in _5th_ gear.  I smelt like clutch for a few days..

Draining the oil later was entertaining.  a few near dime sized chunks of
syncro came out the drain plug..  I think I even took pictures..  ahh:
