Hi Alex:
I think the consensus of the group is to buy a used tranny and install it, and
while you have the opportunity do an R&R on the clutch. I would go one step
farther and tear down the old tranny and find out what is wrong. If it truly
only has 50K miles there shouldn't be too much wear on the bearings in the
rest of the tranny.
You won't be able to find a used tranny with only 50K on it, but if it only
has to be in for 6 months or so, you shouldn't have much trouble finding a
tranny that will last that long. As for a place to work, can't you find a
lister within 50 miles who has a shop and is willing to share?
I know where there are a couple of used trannies if your stuck.
Cheers
George
