Right way to disassemble distributor

Guys,

Trying to pull the Hall sender from a distributor I have without damaging 
anything.  This distributor doesn't have a snap ring above the steel window 
shutter.  Looks like you knock out or press out the pin holding the geared 
shaft onto the distributor shaft then slide the whole thing out of the 
distributor body.  Is this the right way to go?
