automatic a4Q question

i am wondering if any of ya'll have modified a a4
quattro automatic.  I really want a a4 with a manual
so i could modify the car. (150 horses isn't enough.) 
but i dont want to travel cross country for one. 
(here in texas the manual a4's are rare)

so basically i am asking how much horsepower do ya'll
think the automatics in the a4q can handle. 
if not much, is there anyway i can get the tranny
maybe upgraded or built better than stock after i blow
it. 
Im not looking for a 300 horsepower speed racer but
something like 220 or 230 would be nice.  So i can get
moving when i need to.  it will be a daily driver to
replace my 4kq which was demolished by an acura.
