Having written that, I need to apologize; I have CRS [1].
The Type 44 (100/200) needs an LED test light; the V6s can use
the CEL just by jumping the right terminals in the fuse box and
watching the CEL flash. The terminals can be jumped with just
a paper clip. The problem is that not all Audis came with a
light behind the CEL display; but since yours came on, that
should not be a problem.
Sorry for confusing anyone.
