Dave,
Have changed many timing belts on the Type 44's without the crank tool....
Can't imagine yours is much different. Have assistant "stand on the brakes",
car in first gear, ½" breaker bar/socket with about a four foot bar to
extend the breaker bar (usually use a floor jack handle). Takes about ¾'s of
a turn to get the "slack" out of the drive train, brakes set.
E-brake is only rear axle, brake pedal is both front and rear!
This has worked every time. One of these days I'll get or make the right
tool....
Torque is torque, penetrating oil isn't going to do anything!
