Tim,
Hard to say for sure. There is a two part sender system on that car. One operates at low RPM's, the other at higher. The hegher is usually triggered around 1.8 bar. Do you have an oil pressure gauge in the car? If not, I'd recommend taking it somewhere where they can hook one up, just to be safe. It's a good bet that the sender just went bad, though.

I drove my Audi 420 miles up to school after leaving it sit for 3
months. It drove up without any problems. Then the day after I got here
I went to drive it and the oil pressure light kicked on and started
beeping. I had to continue on driving around the block and found that
the light would go away when coasting or when running at low RPM's. But
when I accel or just drive around 3k the light comes back on and beeps
some more. I'm looking for a place to start diagnosis. Should I replace
the sensor first to see if that is it? The oil level is fine, I'm
running Castrol 10W-40. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks.
